2024 Recap: Milestones & Future Directions

As the year draws to a close, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on everything we’ve accomplished. Without a doubt, 2024 has been a whirlwind of activity; from launching ambitious new projects and welcoming a wave of new customers, to rolling out important platform updates that will shape our future.

And while we were busy building and innovating, we also took a bold step in redefining who we are. This year, we rebranded from Docksters to Collactr, giving our identity a fresh, modern feel that better represents where we’re headed next.

Platform

Over the past year, we’ve rolled out three major releases, supported by a steady stream of weekly minor updates and hot-fixes. Our primary goal was to bring greater stability to every aspect of our platform while boosting the speed and reliability of our core APIs. We’re proud to say we’ve made great strides toward that goal.

One standout achievement was dramatically improving load times. We managed to cut the time it takes to load a full month of data, grouped in five-minute intervals, from 1 minute and 35 seconds down to just 7 seconds; a remarkable 1,200% increase in loading speed!

Releases

At the start of the year, we introduced a new feature to Collactr: Report Templates. If you happened to miss that update, here’s a quick refresher. Ever since we launched our Reports module in 2021, we’ve heard requests for more customizable reporting options. After some careful thought in January, we realized the best “one-size-fits-all” solution would be a report template builder.

With Report Templates, you can create flexible templates that can be applied across multiple reports, streamlining your workflow and ensuring consistency. We officially rolled out the new feature in February and have been refining it ever since. It’s now easier than ever to tailor your reporting experience to fit your exact needs.

Building on the momentum of our customizable reports, we set out to tackle another highly requested feature. While reports are undeniably valuable, the manual process of generating them every time isn’t exactly fun. That’s why we introduced Report Email Schedules this past summer, officially launching the feature in September.

With Report Email Schedules, users can define a schedule (including a repeating pattern and contact list), and then easily link that schedule to one or more reports. The result is a streamlined, automated workflow that delivers the information you need exactly when you need it. This not only saves time and effort, but also ensures your team stays consistently informed without any extra hassle.

Our final major release of the year was likely our most ambitious effort since 2021. In October, we took a significant leap forward by rebranding from Docksters to Collactr. This transformation went well beyond changing our name, it involved a comprehensive platform-wide overhaul that now reflects our new brand identity, from the interface you interact with daily to the look and feel of our website, documentation, and social channels.

This massive undertaking wasn’t just cosmetic; it was a commitment to aligning our brand with the values and experiences we aim to deliver to you, our users. As we move into the future as Collactr, we’re excited to continue building on this strong foundation.

What's to come in 2025?

Reflecting on what you’ve accomplished over the past year is a valuable exercise, but looking forward and planning for what’s to come is just as essential. As we head into 2025, our focus will remain largely the same, but we’ll be placing even more emphasis on strengthening the incredible partnerships we’ve built over the years.

On the development side, our goal is to deliver a major release every quarter throughout 2025, alongside monthly minor updates. Of course, we’ll continue to provide hot-fixes and bug-related updates as issues emerge, ensuring our platform remains stable, reliable, and ready to meet your needs at every turn.

As this amazing year winds down, we just want to say a huge “thank you” to all of our incredible partners. Every project we tackled together, every feature you asked for, and every idea you threw our way made a real difference. Your input helped us shape our platform into something more useful, more reliable, and more in tune with what you actually need.
